Shiraz is a cozy, little Persian restaurant that just opened up by our hotel in Bergen. Fun fact &#8211; it is actually the first Persian restaurant to open in the city! 



Their menu consist of delicious grilled dishes of chicken and lamb and casseroles that will leave you wanting more. Enjoy it with a one of their signature mocktails and you will be set for the evening. All in all a really cozy place where you can bring your partner and/or your friends! 



PS: There is a limited number of seats in the restaurants, so make sure you book a table in advance!

Shiraz

Chocolate person? Yeah, I know. We all are. Fjåk chocolate shop &amp; café can be found just a minutes walk from our hotel and is the perfect place to start the day. On their menu you&#8217;ll find not only the best chocolate sweets, but delicious breakfast and brunch dishes. They have plenty of tables where you can sit and enjoy your food while doing plenty of people watching of the people of the city. For the best of both worlds we recommend the hot chocolate paired with one of the sandwiches (The avocado one is really good, but no surprise there). 



If you&#8217;re looking to make the most of your visit, we recommend adding the brown cheese cake as a desert. It is truly one of a kind!

Restaurant Amateur is the newest and hottest spot in Bergen right now, and it’s already become one of the toughest places to get a table. We recommend booking early if you want to experience it.



The handwritten menus set a relaxed, informal tone, and the food is genuinely impressive. Really some of the best we’ve come across in Bergen in a long time! The small dishes alone are worth the visit, and the generous portions make it easy to share and try a bit of everything.



As for the mains and desserts, we can simply say this: we wholeheartedly recommend going all in. The quality, flavor, and value are remarkable across the board.



All in all, Restaurant Amateur offers a dining experience we’re excited to share with our guests. Just be prepared for generous servings, and consider mixing and sharing the smaller dishes to explore more of the menu.

Jest

Bergen Brunch is a new and trendy eatery that focuses on brunch, and oh boy, the brunch is good!



The menu consists of various set menus inspired by famous cities, e.g., Brooklyn Brunch or Brisbane Brunch. With the set menus, you get several small dishes named and a small dessert. So good! They also have regular sandwiches and other smaller dishes, but we recommend trying the set menus.



Bergen Brunch is the perfect place for brunch and bubbles. A good tip is to order a table before you get there, as they are often fully booked.

A delectable feast awaits on a wooden table, surrounded by plates filled with a variety of food. The spread includes a succulent bowl of shrimp adorned with dill, a plate of vibrant green salad teeming with fresh tomatoes and lettuce, and a collection of mouth-watering dishes. Close by, a glass of water glistens, reflecting the soft ambient light. A slice of freshly baked white bread completes the scene, adding a touch of simplicity and comfort to the enticing display.

Bergen Brunch

In this restaurant it feels like you are stepping into Paris in 1920. The interior and music is done with real finesse, and is really something to see when you are visiting Bergen. 



The French menu doesn&#8217;t disappoint either, with a nice selection of food and wine. Whether you are visiting Cherie for lunch or dinner, you can&#8217;t go wrong. Once you&#8217;re there we recommend that you take a walk around the venue and explore all the details!

Brasserie Cherie

Want a special experience? Not that many minutes walk from the city center, you&#8217;ll find Bark. It recently opened in Bergen, and oh is it at the top of our lists. The atmosphere itself is very cozy and we would say the perfect place for a date night. Some might consider this restaurant a bit prizy, but we would say that it is worth the visit. The kitchen uses only the best ingredients and the menu changes by the season. We recommend going for the &#8220;full package&#8221;, a 5-course dinner that will leave you full of the best Bark has to offer. Pair it with some wine or your alcohol-free beverage of choice and we can (almost) guarantee that you&#8217;ll have a wonderful experience. Pssst &#8211; some of our employees have also said that Bark has the best chocolate fondant in town so we would try that too if we were you.

Here you will find the healthiest and heartiest lunch in town!



They have a selection of excellent soups(meat, vegetarian and vegan), in addition to salads. You can compose the salads yourself, and they make a salad base with fresh spinach, which they mix with a delicious mango dressing.



In addition to delicious soups and salads, they also have coffee, matcha, golden milk, and a selection of raw cakes.

The scene showcases a delectable display of culinary delights, brimming with various vegetables and rice. The focus is on a large bowl overflowing with vibrant vegetables and fluffy grains, serving as the centerpiece of the composition.

Daily Pot

Craving some Asian food? Then we suggest you try out Ying Ying. A restaurant where beautiful Asian dishes and an elegant atmosphere meet, you&#8217;ll definitely have a fantastic experience. They adapt their menu seasonally, to make sure you always get the best ingredients. We recommend the Szechuan Beef, and maybe some Baozi if you&#8217;re feeling extra hungry!

Ying Ying

A relatively new and very popular restaurant in Bergen that serves Italian food. From our experience, we haven&#8217;t tried anything we didn&#8217;t like!



It is located in the cozy &#8220;Skostredet&#8221; and has a nice outside terrace in addition to the inside space. This place is golden year-round.



The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is top-notch. We recommend you book well in advance or be prepared to stand in line. They have a few tables for drop-in, but there is usually a queue.

Villani

One of our top-pics in Bergen! At this cozy bistro, they change the menu daily but always have a fish dish, a meat dish and good selection of vegetarian dishes. They also have wonderfully good small dishes such as falafel with hummus, grilled vegetables and tomatoes with feta and hazelnuts. It&#8217;s a bit hard to pinpoint the exact cuisine. It just feels like they make whatever they like &#8211; and it works!



If you&#8217;re a group, we recommend you ask the waiter to put together a tasting menu. You won&#8217;t be disappointed.

Allmuen

Hands down the best sushi in Bergen. Nama is known for its excellent service, the good-looking venue, and the quality of the kitchen. The restaurant combines good ingredients and simple preparation into a completely unique taste experience. 



The food is based on sharing, and they have great drinks. They have Japanese robatayaki cuisine, Izakaya, and a sushi bar. Perfect place to bring your date if you want to impress someone.

The scene is set on a table adorned with an assortment of delectable treats. In the center of the table lies a plate of sushi. The sushi roll is garnished with a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds and topped with decadent caviar. To accompany the delectable sushi, a refreshing drink awaits.

Nama

If you like Chinese food, Banzha in Bergen is the place for you! The portions are a little smaller than you would normally find in similar Norwegian restaurants, but the quality is definitely higher. Here you can take a culinary journey through China&#8217;s Yunnan province and experience its unique food culture.

Colonialen Litteraturhuset is one of the coziest places to eat in Bergen, and the food is amazing. They have classic dishes such as mussels, fish, and meat inspired by Nordic and continental traditions.



Colonialen also has a large and rich wine list put together by knowledgeable sommeliers. They have a great lunch menu with, among other things, mussels, eggs benedict, and beef tartar.

An elegant dining experience unfolds in a rustic setting, portrayed on a canvas with masterful strokes. Engen Restaurant

Best lunch in town, hands down.. Located in Bergen Kunsthall, Landmark offers lunch and early dinner, and is a definite must-try while you&#8217;re in town! 



The menu changes daily, so you can visit several times during your stay and still be amazed. The menu includes the &#8220;regulars&#8221; like avocado toast, fish soup, falafel, cheesy fries, as well as the daily special(s). In addition, they have a great selection of natural wines, craft beers, and cocktails. 



Are you visiting for the first time? Everything on the menu is a safe bet, so you can&#8217;t go wrong. They usually close at 17.00, so be sure to be there in good time. The vibe is relaxed and cool, and what we love about this place is that you can find people from all over, from musicians in their 20s to ladies 70+ meeting up for tea.

Landmark Café

Dinner with a view? Skyskraperen is a restaurant, located on the top of Mount Ulriken in Bergen, is an experience in and of itself. You might guess that the English translation of its name is the Skyscraper, aptly named as you will dine on top of a sea of clouds if the weather is right. 



You can either take a cable car from the mountain&#8217;s base or hike up there if you are feeling sporty. Fine dining at its most spectacular!

Skyskraperen

Looking for a place to brunch? Then Kaigaten Deli is the perfect alternative for you. 



The deli is a place where local quality food meets the big world. They have their own Sicilian pizza, water-in-your-mouth cheese, ham, wine, beer and cider from Hardanger. We highly recommend the shrimp-sandwich!



If the weather is nice you might even be able to enjoy your meal in the sun, with a view to the beautiful Lille Lungegårdsvannet.

Kaigaten Deli

Bryggen is a must-see once you&#8217;re in Bergen, and to be honest, it&#8217;s almost impossible not to. Colorful wooden buildings facing the harbor contain a warren of shops and eating and drinking places &#8211; fascinating to walk around; the buildings are under continual maintenance and are clearly moving as they all lean in and propped up on each other.



If you get a chance, book a guided tour of the buildings to learn more about the history!

Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf

If you&#8217;re in Bergen going to Mount Ulriken is an absolute must! You can hike or take the cable car up the mountainside. From the top, you get the most beautiful view of Bergen.



If you like it, we recommend hiking for the full experience. You can take the Ulriken bus from the city center (it costs about 100kr for a round trip). If you choose public transport, you have several alternatives:

<li>From the city center: Take the Light Rail (line 2) to Haukeland Hospital or bus no. 5 or 6 from Festplassen, 12 from Olav Kyrres gate, or 16E from Xhibition. If you take the bus, get off at Haukelandsbakken.</li>

<li>From Danmarksplass: Take the Light Rail (line 1) to Kronstad and switch to line 2 to Haukeland sykehus. You can also take the bus, no. 27 from Krohnsminde or no. 12 from Strømmen.</li>

Follow the signs from there, approximately 10 minutes. And ready, set, go!

Mount Ulriken

Fløyen is a must-do while in Bergen. Fløibanen, the funicular, brings you up the hillside, from Bergen city center to the top of the mountain in 6 minutes. At Mount Fløyen, you will find beautiful views of Bergen, the nearby islands, fjords, and the mountains surrounding Bergen. Fløyen is a great destination for hiking, mountain biking, and soft adventures. Fløien Folkerestaurant is open daily from May until September. You can also buy snacks and a beer once you reach the top! 



The directions mark the start of the funicular, but you can also hike to the top.

At the Bergen Aquarium, you can study a colorful and exciting range of fish, watch the otters and other animals get food, and watch 360-degree films in Domen, Storsalen. 



The nice thing about the Aquarium is that you can be both indoors and outdoors. There is also a large playground on the roof. Children and adults alike at Bergen Aquarium can see, read about, and follow the animals and aquarium keepers at close range. You can watch shows and feedings and see how fish and animals act when in their element.

Bergen

Check-in is from 15:00, and check-out time is 12:00. If you want to stay a little longer, let us know. You can stay (by request) until 14:00 for free in a double room if you are a Citybox Friend. If you want to stay even longer, you’ll, unfortunately, need to pay for another night as we need time to clean the room before the next guest. You can store luggage with us outside of these hours in our luggage room in the lobby.

What is the check-in & check-out time?

Airport bus: Look for signs pointing to the airport bus terminal. An express bus called &#8220;Flybussen&#8221; goes from the airport to the city center. You can easily buy tickets at the bus terminal or online.



Light Rail: There&#8217;s also an excellent light rail system called &#8220;Bybanen.&#8221; It&#8217;s a train that goes right into the city center. You can find the station inside the airport terminal; follow the well-marked signs. 



Get off at “Bergen Busstasjon,” and the hotel is a 5-minute walk away. 



You can also travel by taxi, but we recommend the light rail or bus, both are more sustainable and nicer to your wallet!

How do I get to the hotel from the airport?

Yes! Our luggage storage is open for all guests before check-in and after check-out. Simply use the terminals to get a keycard for the luggage room. Please note that luggage is stored at the guest&#8217;s own risk. And as always, if you need help ask our hosts at the hotel!

Can I store my luggage at the hotel?

If you need to wash your clothes, there is a self-service laundromat located on the second floor. Laundry detergent is included in the price and goes into the machine automatically. The price for one wash is NOK 50,- and so is one round in the dryer. We accept card payments only. Open from 09:00 to 21:00.

Does your hotel have a laundry room?

Breakfast is not included. Coffee and snacks can be purchased at the vending machines in the lobby. We also have a guest kitchen equipped with a microwave oven and kettles, so you are able to prepare your own breakfast.

Is breakfast included in my booking?

Unfortunately, we do not offer parking at the hotel. However, you can park at Grieg Park, located under the Grieg Hall just across the road, or at the City Garage (Bygarasjen) by the bus station, which is only a few minutes&#8217; walk away. Grieg Park charges NOK 280 per day, while Bygarasjen offers a daily rate of NOK 250.

Where can I park?

Bergen is mainly known for its mountains and fjords, but the city also has some beaches. We recommend Marineholmen Beach, Sandviken Sjøbad and Nordnes Sjøbad. 



If you are looking for a blue flag-certified beach, we recommend Helleneset Beach.

Are there any beaches in Bergen?

Yes! In Bergen, we have something called City Bike (bysykkel), where you can rent a bicycle from different stations around the city. You can rent it at the closest station to the hotel and leave it at the closest station to where you are going (if there is room). The closest rental station is Strømgaten, 1 minute from the hotel. You can read more on bergenbysykkel.no.

Is there anywhere I can rent a bike?

Nygårdsparken is the closest park to both our hotels in Bergen. It&#8217;s a beautiful park with great opportunities for picnics with friends, to walk your dog or to just get some air in nice surroundings! It&#8217;s super popular in the summertime.

Are there any parks nearby?

Of course! Extra towels, a water kettle, and extra pillows are available in our Citybox Host Office on the ground floor.

Can I get extra towels?

7(!) mountains surround Bergen. So, there are plenty of hiking opportunities. The most popular mountain is Mount Fløyen, where you can take the Funicular or hike to the top. You can hike straight to Ulriken, Rundemanen, and Sandviksfjellet from the top of Fløyen. Both the Funicular station and the starting point of the hike are in the city center.

Are there any hiking opportunities nearby?

You can bring your furry family member for an extra 15€/200NOK/200SEK per stay; just let us know in advance. We can’t wait to have them stay with us! We do love all animals, but we must put a leash on it and stick to only one dog or cat per room.

We don&#8217;t clean your room every day. Housekeeping is done every three days and after check-out. This helps us keep our prices low and is also a big plus for the environment! Extra cleaning can be ordered for a small fee, just stop by the Host Office.

After you book your stay, you will receive a booking confirmation, including a booking number. When you check in, type in your booking number on our check-in terminal, make your payment, and you will receive your key card and room number.



When checking out, type in your booking reference, and leave your key card in the box next to the terminal.

How do I check in and out?

Our hotel room doors take up to 60 seconds to lock automatically due to safety reasons. All hotels in Norway have a special regulation for this. But don’t worry, if you’re in a hurry, tap your key card on the door, and it will lock right away.

How do I lock my door?

First off, we are super happy that you’d like to book a stay with us! Unfortunately, you must be over 18 years old to check into Citybox without adult supervision. But don’t worry; we’ll be here waiting for you!
